Gate valves are commonly used in fire fighting systems to control the flow of water. They feature a gate or wedge that can be raised or lowered to either allow or block the passage of water.
Gate valve refers to the valve whose closing member (gate) moves along the vertical direction of the channel axis.
It can be applied to low temperature and low pressure as well as high temperature and high pressure, and can be used for various media according to the different materials of the valve. But gate valves are generally not used in pipelines for conveying mud and other media.
