At least five people were killed in an explosion and fire at a Hanwha Aerospace facility in Daejeon, South Korea, on June 1, authorities said.

 

The incident occurred at a worksite operated by Hanwha Aerospace, a company involved in the development of large propellants and surface-to-surface weapons systems.

 

Two others were injured, with one reported to be in critical condition.

Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.

 

The explosion triggered a level-one emergency response by South Korean firefighters.
