A deadly fire broke out early on January 24 at a high-rise apartment building in the Bronx, New York.

 

The fire started shortly after midnight on the top two floors of a 17-story residential building and quickly spread to multiple apartments.
New York City Fire Department officials confirmed the incident was escalated to a four-alarm fire, the highest emergency level.

 

According to authorities, one person was killed and 14 others were injured, including one in critical condition.
The fire was caused by a gas explosion, officials said.

 

Fire crews worked through the night to control the blaze and evacuate residents.
The incident remains under investigation.
