A workshop fire happened at a metal processing factory in Brisbane. A can of cleaning solvent caught fire on the workbench, and nearby wooden packaging materials started burning rapidly.
A factory worker used an ABC dry powder fire extinguisher to attack the fire root. The dry powder cut off the combustion chain and smothered the flame, preventing the fire from spreading to stacked raw materials.
Local fire service stated ABC dry powder extinguishers are multi-purpose. They work for Class A solid combustible fires, Class B flammable liquid fires and Class E live electrical fires, widely used in factories, warehouses and vehicles.
Warning: Dry powder leaves thick residue after use, so it is not recommended for precision instruments or food processing areas.
