A lightning-started fire known as the Dragon Bravo Fire ignited on July 4 near the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. The blaze rapidly intensified, scorching approximately 8,570 acres and engulfing more than 50 historical structures, including the iconic Grand Canyon Lodge built in 1937.

Park officials initially used a "confine and contain" strategy, delaying an aggressive response. However, dry conditions and gusty winds propelled the fire to destroy the lodge by July 12–13.A chlorine leak at the water treatment facility forced crews to momentarily evacuate. Containment remains at 0 percent despite aerial and ground firefighting efforts.

The loss of the lodge-North Rim's only accommodation-has led to closure of the area for the 2025 season.Arizona's governor has demanded an independent federal inquiry into fire management decisions. No casualties have been reported, but the fate of rebuilding the National Historic Landmark remains uncertain.
